Blurb:
She awoke from endless darkness, and weakness, exhaustion, and drowsiness washed over her in an instant.
She raised her head. That single glance seemed to take in the entire empire, and yet it seemed to look only at what lay within arm's reach.
On the day the two first met, Ying Zheng was reviewing memorials. Outside the palace doors, a young eunuch reported in a trembling voice, "Your Majesty, someone wishes to see you."
He frowned slightly without looking up. Someone would deal with a young eunuch who lacked such basic sense.
The footsteps were light, almost imperceptible, as the hem of her robe brushed across the grand hall.
But then--
"Tap."
The newcomer seemed unaccustomed to walking, swaying unsteadily.
Yet her footfalls were perfectly precise: first her toes touched the ground, then the rest of her foot followed.
Ying Zheng felt compelled to look up.
She wore a snow-white cross-collared robe and had long, jet-black hair. A curtain of perfectly round, evenly spaced beads, so regular it was almost uncanny, hid her face. Only the tips of her fingers peeked out.
Mysterious, eerie, and undeniably beautiful.
--
Much, much later, one day she curiously asked the ruler of that time,
"Why does every one of you cry when you see me?"
The ruler gazed deeply at her and said, "The moment we saw 'Mother,' we decided we would devote everything to you."
PS:
1. The protagonist comes first. Her personality may be a little nasty. (I haven't thought of a name for her yet.)
2. Emperors will die. I won't make them immortal.
3. In general, she won't take part in choosing successors, except for a few who are exceptionally outstanding.
4. Some dynasties will be erased from history. I won't cover them all.
5. This isn't a conventional story about a nation's consciousness. If you don't like the style of the blurb, you probably won't like the story either. I can't quite explain what I want to write yet, but it should involve a certain eerie feeling and atmosphere.
