After I Toyed with and Abandoned a Sunny Ghost

After enduring the loss of her family and a desolate life at sixteen, Cen Man unexpectedly learns that the world she lives in is actually a novel.

And in that novel, she is a passerby whose name is never even mentioned.

Someone from beyond the pages tells her that if she kills the male lead, time will rewind and the world will reset.

If time could only turn back to the midsummer when Cen Man was sixteen, everything could be rewritten.

Cen Man, of course, doesn't want to kill anyone. But the person gives a brief smile and says there is more than one way to kill someone. Psychological death is one of them.

Cen Man accepts and begins searching for the male lead.

The search doesn't go smoothly. After looking for a long time, Cen Man still can't find the real male lead. She even accidentally hurts the feelings of someone she has mistaken for him.

Then one day, a transfer student arrives in class. In a school uniform, with tousled hair, he stumbles into the room and knocks over her water cup.

The moment Cen Man looks up, a voice she hasn't heard in a long time begins to speak in her mind:

“Love can't be measured in numbers, but a mental breakdown can. Congratulations, Manman, you've found the real male lead, Shi Xu. The Psychological Breakdown System is now activated.”

The boy picks up the cup and apologizes profusely, offering to buy her a new one.

Cen Man smiles, her face bathed in sunlight. Her hand tightens slightly around the cup as she says, “It's okay.”

The male lead, so high above everyone else and surrounded by an aura of glory, is of course fine.

Shi Xu. What a lovely, perfect name.

Shi Xu always seems cheerful and optimistic, but Cen Man knows he's actually very hard to get close to.

Yet Cen Man, a mere passerby, keeps appearing at every key moment when he is down on his luck, casually giving him a hand before quickly letting go.

Cen Man only ever appears when he needs her, and when she leaves, she always does so without hesitation.

Shi Xu doesn't understand, but in the end, he falls for her. He accepts that he loves Cen Man with almost no resistance.

But Cen Man turns away, takes someone else's hand, and never looks at him again.

It's okay if Cen Man doesn't love him. It's okay.

“Psychological breakdown: 60%.”

Cen Man kisses someone else.

“Psychological breakdown: 70%.”

Cen Man disappears.

“Psychological breakdown: 100%.”

The world collapses.

Time rewinds.

Every time time rewinds, Shi Xu loses his memories.

Cen Man successfully completes several missions and gets her wish: she returns to the age of sixteen.

But the result doesn't satisfy her.

At the point she returns to, bandits are knocking at the door. Her mother is about to open it, and her father is cooking in the kitchen.

With no other choice, Cen Man takes everyone into the secret room, only to discover someone is already inside.

In the dim light, Shi Xu watches Cen Man with his usual cheerful smile. He tilts his head slightly and asks, “Next time you come back, could you kiss me too?”
