The sun rises in the morning, and the moon glows softly at night. At the moment day turns to night, they always feel each other's presence.
1. Wen Qingmian took her students to Paris for a competition. After turning down a suitor's confession, she unexpectedly ran into Ji Chaofei, her childhood friend, with whom she'd gone separate ways in high school.
She never expected that, in the quiet of night, Ji Chaofei would pretend to be drunk and turn into a humble little puppy, asking her to define their relationship and hoping to end his decade-long secret crush on her.
"I've liked you for a long time. I can't wait any longer. Could you please look at me?"
But his sudden confession seemed to... scare her...
"Ji Chaofei, have you lost your mind?"
2. Wen Qingmian thought things between them would end there, but Ji Chaofei was as persistent as a cockroach. The more setbacks he faced, the harder he tried. He wasn't deterred at all by her rejecting his confession; instead, he worked even harder to pursue her.
But then an unexpected accident onstage caused Wen Qingmian's back injury to flare up again. She had no choice but to put her career on hold and return to her hometown for the New Year to recover.
She planned to find somewhere quiet to stay before the New Year and avoid Ji Chaofei. But he suddenly used up all his remaining vacation days and sweet-talked her parents, all so he could go home and take care of her while she was sick.
He even followed her when she went out to clear her head. While keeping an eye out for rivals, he went all out showing off like a peacock.
He'd thrown away all his dignity just to win his girl.
Ji Chaofei: "Wen Qingmian, I haven't lost my mind. If you can't stand watching, you can hit me, but may I volunteer to get hit in your arms?"
Ji Chaofei: "Only the brave have a chance to be loved. Wen Qingmian, I'm going to be a cockroach that can't be killed, protecting our love every step of the way."

3. They say someone who overthinks needs a lover who won't be driven away. As Ji Chaofei pursued her day after day, Wen Qingmian gradually got over her hang-ups about love. She was even willing to give him half of her beating heart, and from then on, she would never again be a coward in love.
On another rainy night, Wen Qingmian got drunk, knocked Ji Chaofei over, and clung to him, crying in his arms for a long time. She even kissed him until he reacted.
"Ji Chaofei, didn't you say I'd get candy if I called you big brother?"
"If we date, can you promise never to betray me?"
"Who says you can't see the sun at night? Ji Chaofei is proof you can."
