I Want to Become an Immortal

The protagonist in the story upholds justice and gives his life to defeat the evil fiend, bringing peace to the immortal realm.

Unfortunately, Lu Xu is neither the protagonist who upholds justice nor the fiend who commits countless evils. She is not one of the many immortal sects the protagonist would give everything to protect, either.

She is just the daughter of a family of cattle herders at the foot of a mountain outside Weiyang City.

Her parents were sacrificed when the protagonist opened the Gate Sealing Heaven, nameless ants among the teeming masses.

Lu Xu’s family is part of the story, yet no one remembers them or even mourns them. Even when she carries her parents’ memorial tablets to the immortals to demand an explanation, passersby only say offhandedly:

“It’s your family’s honor to help the Immortal Lord save the world.”

“What war doesn’t cost lives? Why are you making such a fuss?”

Expressionless, Lu Xu draws her butcher’s knife and points it at the distant mountain range towering before her.

If becoming an immortal brings so many benefits, then she’ll become one too.
