"Loquat Shade" uses the loquat tree and the chick "Loquat" as emotional clues. It tells the story of Jiang Yue, a rural girl in northern Anhui, and Meng Ban, the boy next door, from being together as children at the age of six or seven, to falling in love with childhood sweethearts, and then to a life-long bond separated by life and death. The two spent carefree childhood together, and the teenagers pursued their dreams side by side. The young people agreed to be teachers together, but due to work, they were separated from each other in the city. They stayed together through hardships for six years. Just when the transfer was about to be completed, Meng Bantu passed away in a car accident, leaving Jiang Yue alone to guard the loquat tree that the two of them had witnessed together. She hid her love and longing under the shade of the loquat tree forever, expressing her deep love and regret about her love across life and death, and missing her for the rest of her life.

• Jiang Yue: The narrator of the story is gentle and affectionate. She grew up in a rural area in northern Anhui and became childhood sweethearts with Meng Ban.
