Cosses is playing a futuristic sci-fi immersive game with a high degree of freedom. From the start, players can choose their gender, starting location, and faction.
Cosses promptly chooses the classic leveling route: “male, born on a trash planet, S-rank growth potential, faction unknown.”
Early-game plot:
[The trash planet is fraught with danger. You must keep a low profile and wait for a chance to grow...]
Cosses follows the instructions to the letter, completing daily quests to level up along the way.
Once he reaches level 18, an unconscious NPC drops nearby.
Expensive gear, a top-tier model face, and an unknown identity.
With a character model like that, he must be an important quest NPC.
Cosses takes him in.
As their affection level rises, the NPC tells him his name, family background, dreams, and preferences.
None of that matters. He just wants to know whether there’s a golden finger, and when he’ll get it.
NPC: There is. I’ll give it to you now.
Mid-game plot:
[You have arrived at the capital planet. Several factions are locked in battle. Choose your faction. 1. Royalist faction. 2. Military hardliners. 3. Progressive reformers.]
Cosses knows that the NPC belongs to the military hardliners.
He asks the NPC: If I change factions, will the golden finger you gave me still work?
NPC: Yes.
Cosses: Then I choose the progressive reformers.
NPC: All right.
The story reaches the late game.
By day, Cosses champions freedom and ideals among the progressive reformers. By night, he meets the NPC to collect his daily perks.
Before long, rumors begin to spread.
A senior progressive leader is secretly in league with the military faction, conspiring to achieve some unspeakable aim.
Cosses: What aim? We’re completely innocent, right?
NPC: ...
Cosses: Say something! You’re acting suspicious. Your golden finger doesn’t come with interest, does it? How much do I owe you?
NPC: You owe me your whole life.
Cosses: ...
1. The protagonist who gets pursued is an arrow pointing straight at him, while the pursuer’s arrow comes later.
2. Lots of original worldbuilding.
3. One-on-one ending.
Theme: Strive hard and stay positive.
