1.
As a warrior of the kingdom, Nyx considered Tartarus her archenemy. She firmly believed she was the kingdom's strongest warrior, and that one day she'd kick him and his two lackeys out of the kingdom.
Diavolo and Titan, mistaken for lackeys: ...
Reality was cruel. This snake, Tartarus, had somehow earned the king's favor. Nyx nearly left the kingdom for good.
Her gentle and virtuous childhood sweetheart comforted her.
Erebus was delicate and frail. Without her, Tartarus would surely pick on him and make him suffer.
For the kingdom, and for her beautiful husband, Nyx "gritted her teeth and endured."
Tartarus, who had done nothing except be a little sharp-tongued, yet had gained an archenemy when they were children: …
2.
Cascadet Tower went out of control, and the kingdom was on the brink of destruction.
To save the kingdom, Tartarus decided to seize the Land of Light and bring the Ultra Warriors' greatest enemies over from a parallel universe.
Nyx wasn't having it. She had that kind of power too, and wasn't the dark version much stronger than the white one?
Tregear and Hunter Knight Tsurugi, forcibly dragged back: ... Is bullying an Ultra really going too far?
Belial, shamelessly following along: You're my wife.jpg
3.
Tartarus had never considered Nyx his archenemy. He had simply endured her treatment of him in silence.
With Erebus fanning the flames, Nyx grew to hate him more and more.
Tartarus began to regret the careless words he'd spoken as a child.
...She already had a partner.
He shouldn't let personal feelings distract him. Tartarus continued on his journey to find a way to save the kingdom.
4.
Erebus had a brilliant childhood friend. She was strong.
He regretted being too weak to keep up with her. She was always looking at Tartarus, and he hated it.
When they grew up, Erebus and Nyx naturally got together. Tartarus had become the loser.
But why had a shameless dark Ultraman suddenly popped up, demanding that he take responsibility for his own wife?
As a good husband, he would make sure this shameless guy understood his place.
5.
Ultra Warriors were such a pain to deal with.
First time:
Nyx was furious when her attempt to kidnap the Ultra Brothers was interrupted by Zero.
Zero: You kidnapped my dad. How do you think you're in the right?
Second time:
Nyx picked the younger ones to kidnap, only for Zero to interrupt her again.
Nyx: Your dad isn't here.
Zero: The one with horns on his head is my cousin, and that half-baked guy is my student.
Zeta: Shishou, you finally admitted it.
Nyx watched the New Generation Ultras reluctantly, then gritted her teeth and told Zero to take the two of them away.
Zero: Let them all go!
Third time:
After her plans were interrupted, Nyx specifically went after Zero's dad.
Innocent Taro: You really have the wrong person.
Nyx, furious: You still dare to deny it? You'll even disown your own son to save your life!
6.
Zero was even more annoying than Tartarus.
Taro was annoying. He really wasn't Zero's dad.
Tregear and Hunter Knight Tsurugi were annoying. They refused to work for her.
Belial was annoying. He bullied Erebus when she wasn't looking.
By that reckoning, Tartarus got kicked out of the archenemy spot overnight. He didn't even make the top three.
I borrowed the names of the heroine and her partner from the ancient Greek goddesses of night and their husbands. The inspiration was that Tartarus's name also comes from Greek mythology.
I wanted to write an archenemies-to-lovers story, and I'm going for quantity over quality.
A quick note: Interpretations of the characters may differ, so please forgive any OOC moments. The hotpot base is a charmer who attracts everyone.
The heroine will only acknowledge Erebus as her partner. Everyone else is an archenemy, an archenemy, and an archenemy.
By the time Tartarus finally starts competing for her, he discovers he doesn't even count as her archenemy anymore.
