Offer Your Tail to the Fox God

Beautiful fox spirit bottom x species-hunter top

Strange species ran rampant, and the most powerful among them was the legendary Nine-Tailed Fox God.

Lin Wuyan was a species hunter. For generations, his ancestors had hunted the Fox God, but never succeeded.

Lin Wuyan set out on the same path.

Along the way, he rescued a boy. The boy was a little fox spirit, too weak to lift a finger, and he'd lost his most important tail.

Lin Wuyan looked at the impossibly beautiful face before him.

People said fox spirits were clever, but this was the dumbest little fox he'd ever met.

The little fox was on the verge of tears. "You look really capable. Could you... help me find my tail?" He paused, then added earnestly, "Once you find it, you can touch my tail."

To stop him from crying, Lin Wuyan found a magnificent fake tail and tried to fob him off with it. "Here, take this."

The tears stopped, as expected. Lin Wuyan breathed a sigh of relief, only to hear the boy say, "But this is fake, isn't it?"

Lin Wuyan: ?

The little fox wiped his tears and looked at him sympathetically. "Y-you're the dumbest human I've ever met. That's so sad."

Lin Wuyan: "..."

Unable to swallow his pride, he took the little fox along with him.

They traveled across most of the world, but never caught sight of the Fox God.

Then one day, the two were accidentally separated.

When Lin Wuyan finally found the boy again, countless strange species lay dead around him, without a sound.

The boy was poking one of them with a branch, looking bored. When he saw Lin Wuyan, his eyes lit up. "You're finally here!"

He tilted his head and added, "I was worried the Fox God might be here, so I checked. Good thing it wasn't!"

Lin Wuyan: ??

Lin Wuyan: "...How many tails do you actually have?"

"I told you ages ago, nine in all!" The little fox smiled, his eyes curving into crescents.

Behind him, nine fox tails unfurled lazily, streaming with golden light and covering half the sky.

"Now you can touch my tails nine times."
