By a twist of fate, Jiang Zhiyu left a small town in Jiangnan for Jingbei, where she met Jin Sir an.
Everyone around her told her that Jin Sir an was rebellious and carefree, that they were worlds apart, and that she shouldn't dream of getting involved with him.
Jiang Zhiyu took their words to heart and never made the first move to approach him.
But the person in question didn't seem to think so.
Rain battered the windows, and only one dim yellow lamp was lit in the living room. Its faint light fell across his lean, sharply defined profile.
Jin Sir an cupped the girl's smooth, pale face in his large, long-fingered hands. Their noses touched, and emotion swirled in his dark eyes. With an arrogant air and a carefree smile, he asked, "Jiang Zhiyu, do you want to date me?"
As if enchanted, the girl nodded, wrapped her arms around his neck, and offered him her soft, warm lips, letting herself sink into a sea of desire.

Later, one night after drinking, Jiang Zhiyu nestled hazily in Jin Sir an's arms. He gazed down, playing with her hand as he taught her what to say, one word at a time:
"Jiang Zhiyu" "forever" "likes" "Jin Sir an"
Jiang Zhiyu repeated after him, slurring her words:
"Jiang Zhiyu" "forever" "likes" "Jin Sir an"
Only after she had repeated it several times was Jin Sir an satisfied. He pressed a tender, cherished kiss to the girl's forehead.
But he never imagined that her promise of forever would change so quickly.

Years later, they met again on a rainy night. In the torrential downpour, Jin Sir an was soaked through, the corners of his eyes red. Nothing like the arrogant man others described, he asked in utter misery, "Jiang Zhiyu, your forever only lasted a year, didn't it?"
Then, as if remembering something, he curled his lips into a self-mocking smile. "No, that's not right. Maybe even that one year was a lie."
Jiang Zhiyu stood on the steps, looking at the man in front of her, dressed in a suit and tie. Her lashes trembled, and bitterness filled her heart.
What he didn't know was that the forever Jiang Zhiyu had spoken of had already lasted eight years.
"In my teens, I was still far too naive. I actually believed in forever."
