Love isn't a logic puzzle. There's no right answer, and it can't be calculated with precision.
I know you'll leave. Deep inside, Fan Yan always felt a thread pulled taut. Clear-headed and rational, he said:
"So I won't think about the future."
"As for you..."
"Whether you like me or not, we don't need to make promises to each other."
"Just enjoy each day while we're alive."
Excerpt One:
"Sometimes I think you're such a pain in the ass." Fan Yan leaned against the arm of the sofa, scrolling through his phone, his fingertip gliding carelessly across the screen. "You're like a dog-skin plaster. I can't shake you off."
Coming from him, this was the highest form of acceptance. If anyone else had stuck to him so closely, he'd have thrown them and their stuff out the door.
"What? Can't I keep a close eye on my man?" Gao Yutong leaned over, casually draping an arm around his shoulders and rubbing his chin against the crown of his head. "What if some idiot spots you and steals you away? Where am I going to find another Fan Yan?"
"Who'd be bored enough to steal me?" Fan Yan finally looked up and gave him a textbook eye roll. "You're the only one who can put up with my bad temper."
Gao Yutong stared at his handsome face, even when cold, and asked with complete sincerity, "You have a temper?"
Fan Yan: "?"
He silently rolled his eyes even harder. I don't? Sometimes I want to slap myself twice.
"You must be thinking with your dick." Fan Yan called him out without mercy. "You're completely love-struck."
Even he thought it was ridiculous after saying it. As Jiang Tianxi put it, Gao Yutong had been with more people than Fan Yan ate takeout meals in a year. He hardly seemed like the type to fall for someone.
There was only one possible conclusion: the guy had lost his mind.
Fan Yan nodded, utterly convinced.
"What kind of thing is that to say?" Gao Yutong was stumped for two seconds, then racked his brains before managing, "It's called the weight of happiness, and my boundless tolerance for you."
"You mean lust," Fan Yan said, hitting the mark without even looking up.
Gao Yutong was left speechless, so he leaned close to Fan Yan's ear. His breath, still cool from the Coke he'd just drunk, brushed against it as he gently nipped his earlobe.
"Watch your words, or your tongue will rot."
"Can't win with words, so you're going physical?" Fan Yan pressed a hand to his face and pushed him away, expressionless. "Gao Yutong, you really are a dog."
