On the fifth day after her death, Miaomiao was trapped inside a 20 cm cotton doll.
The person who picked her up was Qin Xiangning, the man she had secretly loved for years.
Miaomiao: Something this good can happen? Doesn't this mean I can watch my crush up close, 24/7?
She thought she could be a little ornament by his side, observing his daily life at close range and uncovering the secrets hidden beneath his icy facade.
But her crush didn't seem like an ordinary person. As soon as Miaomiao was brought home, she was casually tossed beside a divine statue.
The statue radiated such authority that Miaomiao trembled in fear.
So, while her crush went to fetch a magical implement, Miaomiao took control of the doll's body and tried to escape. But she was too inexperienced, tripped over her own feet, rolled around, and ended up right back at his feet.
Waaah, it's over for me.
-
Qin Xiangning was making his usual patrol when he noticed something strange and brought home a little ghost. He planned to use a magical implement to send her on her way.
But then he saw a cotton doll, only 20 cm tall, wobbling and rolling toward him. It struggled to lift its head and gazed up at him pitifully.
Qin Xiangning froze. In his mind, he even added two wide trails of tears to the doll's face.
-
Miaomiao survived for the time being...even though she was already dead.
To avoid being torn apart by her crush, Miaomiao tried her hardest to prove she wasn't a useless doll:
- When Qin Xiangning drew talismans, she blew on the wet ink beside him.
- When Qin Xiangning patrolled the streets, she perched on his shoulder and acted tough by association.
- When Qin Xiangning hunted ghosts, she stood off to the side...
What!! A ghost! Aaaaaah!
After being scared out of her wits, Miaomiao finally learned to speak.
"Waaah, somebody save Miaomiao!"
"Shh. Be good, Miaomiao. Don't be scared."
During a crisis, Qin Xiangning saved Miaomiao, who had stood in front of him with her legs shaking like a sieve while still pretending to be brave.
From then on, Qin Xiangning became fond of doing Miaomiao's hair, buying her little outfits, and even setting up a toy room for her in his bedroom. He secretly infused every toy that belonged to Miaomiao with divine power.
And so Miaomiao became the most fearsome doll in the entire neighborhood!
-Her little shoulder bag can trap evil spirits.
-Her teddy bear is a divine-power shield.
-With her sunglasses on, no wandering spirit within ten miles can escape her sight.

Advance Preview: The Young Master Mustn't Touch His Medicinal Guide
Legend has it that a flower spirit appears on Sacred Spirit Mountain once every thousand years. White Camellia tastes sweet, pungent, and slightly bitter. It is cool in nature and can enter the lungs to stop bleeding.
In February 1921, in the Republic of China era, Master Gu was nearly sixty, coughing up blood every day and close to death. His foolish first wife believed the rumors and brought her out of the mountains.
Life in the mountains had been austere, but it was a hundred times freer than the old Gu family mansion. Besides, the man she had married was already dying.
Bored out of her mind, she met the youngest son, Gu Qingchi, who had just returned from studying abroad.
"So you're the new stepmother my father married?"
White Camellia was polite enough not to roll her eyes at Gu Qingchi.
But she was afraid of provoking gossip, so whenever Gu Qingchi was home, she usually hid in her room.
Still, living under the same roof, they were bound to run into each other.
Gu Qingchi crossed the line again and again, until she had no choice but to put on the air of an elder.
Before she could throw the fan in her hand, Gu Qingchi caught her by the wrist.
His grip hurt. She endured it for a while, but he showed no sign of loosening his hold. Instead, he slowly rubbed his thumb over her wrist bone, and White Camellia was horrified.
"How dare you!"
-
Gu Qingchi had heard while overseas that his father was not long for this world.
On his way home, he was told that his father had taken a flower spirit, White Camellia, as his wife.
He had always scoffed at such supernatural nonsense and was determined to tear away the mask of this swindler.
They first met beneath a magnolia tree. The woman didn't even look at him, yet she caught his eye.
They met again at the old Gu family mansion, where the woman kept her distance.
The third time, the fourth time...
He even tried to lure her with his looks, but all he got from White Camellia was a glance that sized him up and down, followed by a cold "Oh."
Damn it! This swindler was good at what she did! But he refused to believe in her tricks!
On the day his father died, he personally presented the mystery of White Camellia's origins.
"You've enjoyed quite a comfortable life as the Gu family's Ninth Madam."
That night, in the pitch-dark woodshed, Gu Qingchi pushed open the door, wrapped an arm around White Camellia's waist, and pressed close to her ear.
"How are you going to repay the Gu family for all this wealth and splendor?"
