Southward Boughs in the Warmth

The first half of Shen Nanzhi's life was trapped in a muddy abyss. The cold exploitation of her family, the trauma she suffered in her youth, and the grievances no one understood piled upon her until she could hardly breathe. She had grown used to silence and endurance, to shouldering every storm alone. She built a hard, icy wall around herself, afraid to trust anyone, afraid to favor anyone, and even more afraid to touch love. She lived a constrained, insecure life, hiding every tender feeling and every sincere thought deep inside, adrift alone in a prosperous city where everything seemed cold.

She lived cautiously, avoiding crowds and steering clear of lively places, letting the shadows of the past pull at her again and again. She was lost in emotional turmoil, believing the rest of her life would be dim and dull, with not a trace of light.

Until the steady, reserved Lu Yuzhou unexpectedly entered her dark world.

He had seen the vulnerability beneath her feigned strength, recognized the sensitivity beneath her cold exterior, understood the worries she could never bring herself to voice, and felt for her loneliness, with no one to stand up for her. From silent, unobtrusive protection to thoughtful, tender devotion, he never forced her to step out of the darkness. He simply stayed quietly by her side, smoothing the scars folded into her heart and easing the anxiety and insecurity she had carried for so long.

He accepted all her imperfections, made room for all her negative emotions, chased away the gloom that had shrouded her for years, and slowly warmed the heart she had long since frozen over.

The south wind brushes the branches, and the cold gives way to warmth.

The girl who was once covered in scars and lost in sorrow alone finally began to reconcile with her past and make peace with herself amid his enduring, tender love.

From now on, the mountains and fields will be bright, and the years will be gentle. Someone will understand when she is cold or warm, keep her safe, and walk with her out of the endless darkness toward the steady, heartfelt warmth of everyday life.
