[The full manuscript is finished. Once I’m done revising the blurb for my other story, I’ll start publishing both at once. Planned launch: November 2026.]
[Arrogant, pleasure-loving woman x silent, long-suffering, scheming shadow guard; both virgins, happy ending]
The “fiancé” chosen for Lanzhe by imperial decree rebelled. On the night before her family was wiped out, Lanzhe stole a dog from his torture rack.
His name was Li You, and he was an unloved shadow guard.
He was quiet and unremarkable, yet happened to have an incomparably handsome face. Lanzhe couldn’t stop thinking about him.
As the noble Princess of Changle, Lanzhe had never wanted anything she couldn’t get.
So she seized him and brought him back to her residence without a second thought.
In other people’s eyes, his life was worth less than a weed; they could wrap his body in a straw mat and be done with it.
But to her, he was worth a fortune, more precious than the imperial pardon she had just received.
It was only natural for someone saved from death to repay the favor with his life, but Li You refused to obey.
Lanzhe wasn’t offended. It was only natural that he hated her.
After all, she was the one who had brought about the destruction of his former master’s family.
His former master was dead, but Li You tried several times to follow him in death, causing chaos throughout the residence.
Unable to put up with it any longer, she simply lied to him:
“Your former master gave you to me, Your Highness. If you behave, he’ll be allowed to live.”
She was only saying it to pacify him. His former master had long been cold in his grave.
The person she showed him was merely a stand-in who looked like his former master.
But Li You believed her, and never caused a commotion again.
He learned how to serve her and followed her rules, but he was skilled at paying lip service while keeping his true feelings to himself.
All looks and no substance. Boring.
Lanzhe tired of him and tossed him aside.
Yet Li You seemed to have gone mad. Not only did he refuse to leave, he insisted on laying his heart bare before her.
He couldn’t stand to see her suffer the slightest loss, and secretly cleared away obstacles on her behalf.
He even... secretly assassinated the stand-in for his former master.
With tear-filled eyes, he begged for the moon’s sole light to shine on him.
Li You thought that because he served no second master, his loyalty to her must be an act.
So why, when she had treated him so cruelly, was his long-dead heart stirred by her? Why was he so willing to brave fire and water for her?
Little by little, he began to harbor improper desires, wanting to stand behind her and protect her forever.
Was this the same bright moon his former master once gazed upon?
She really had no idea what was good for her.
He should gouge out those eyes of hers.
#A shadow guard’s basic instincts wrestle with his lovesick heart
#What shadow guard? He doesn’t understand court politics. If someone messes with her, kill them
#They say a forcibly picked melon isn’t sweet? She takes a bite, then another, then another... Hehe... It’s super sweet!

[Things to know]
1. There is a transmigration element. The heroine was a noblewoman from the same era who died young and was reborn as the only daughter of the Princess of Changle. The story doesn’t rely heavily on this setup; this is just to clarify the tags.
2. This is not a matriarchal world where men are inferior. The heroine is an idle princess of a different surname. She won’t claim the throne or scheme for power, but she’s no naive fool either. She’s a favored daughter of heaven, arrogant but not a bully. She holds absolute power in her own fiefdom from beginning to end and enjoys life.
3. The heroine will deliberately bully the hero.
4. The hero has no secret, exalted identity. There is a significant status gap between them.
5. Though the hero is often injured, he won’t die young. He’ll live a long life with the heroine. It’s definitely a happy ending~
