A Noble Consort's Guide to the Qing Dynasty

At first, a Noble Consort ranked just below the Empress.

Later, when the Imperial Noble Consort rank was established, her position fell another step.

Later still, the Imperial Noble Consort was treated as a deputy empress, and the Noble Consort became less and less important.

But is that really how it is?

If you had another life, would you stop at Noble Consort? Be content with ranking below the Imperial Noble Consort?

No. Become the Empress!

If your position is easy to constrain, then make it so important that you become irreplaceable.

And these Noble Consorts all remained Noble Consorts for the rest of their lives.

Noble Consort Xin, of the Daigiya clan × Emperor Qianlong
