The earth's ley lines awaken, bringing demons, ghosts, and monsters into the world.
The Abnormal Events Administration is established in response, maintaining order in society's hidden world.
Special operations agent Feng Qi, who bears the power of an ancient mythical beast, encounters the mysterious young woman Shang Xi on his first mission.
She is astonishingly beautiful and immensely powerful, yet she has lost her memories and is as innocent as a small child.
Knowing nothing about modern life, she comes to live in Feng Qi's home.

An ancient Jianmu tree spirit was sealed here.
A wooden sword has followed the young woman across a thousand years and can finally stay by her side.
The wooden sword writes the character for "flower" on the ground. Shang Xi calls it "Little Flower," and it happily presses against her, rubbing her cheek.
Whenever Feng Qi approaches Shang Xi, "Little Flower" brandishes its hilt and chases after him, slashing and stabbing.
Feng Qi covers his backside. "Shang Xi, can you do something about your sword?"
Shang Xi cradles the wooden sword in her arms. "What bad intentions could Little Flower possibly have? You're a grown man, yet you're picking a fight with a sword. You're so petty!"
