Synopsis:

Youjia lost his parents at nineteen. At twenty, his younger sister fell gravely ill. He never had two coins to rub together, but the hospital demanded plenty of them.

So he took a job as a hitman.

His target was a beautiful, sickly man living in a run-down apartment complex. Word was, he was always frail and unwell, so killing him would carry no risk of being killed in return. The boss hired Youjia because he was cheap, and even earnestly advised him, “If all else fails, just kick him. That might be enough to finish the job.”

Wu Gui’s take on that was: You get what you pay for.

Because Youjia simply couldn’t bring himself to do it.

The man tilted up his beautiful face and struck a deal with him: “You don’t have to kill me. I’m not long for this world anyway. How about you stay with me until the end, and I’ll leave you an inheritance of two hundred thousand yuan?”

For Youjia, that was just perfect. There was no reason not to get paid by both sides.

As a temporary caregiver, Youjia began learning to cook for his patient. The first day, he burned the bottom of the pot. The second day, he blew up the stove. The third day, the fourth day...

The hitman’s cooking skills improved by leaps and bounds, and his target... uh, his target grew healthier and healthier.

Furious, the hitman banged his spatula against the stove: I came here to kill you, not cook for you!

Then one day, the hitman kissed his target. He looked into those beautiful eyes, then at the eight hundredth call from his boss.
