It all begins when Fang Jiashu, a patrol officer in the Public Order Division, transfers to the Criminal Investigation Division and is promoted over the heads of his peers to become the deputy to its chief, Li Mengyuan.
Fang Jiashu is clever and handsome, with a silver tongue and an easy smile. He's good at gathering information and asking questions on the streets and in the alleys, finding the faintest clues amid the everyday lives of ordinary people.
After joining the Criminal Investigation Division, he flourishes like a shoot after rain, growing fast, strong, and straight.
His superior, Li Mengyuan, is already a tall, graceful stalk of green bamboo.
If Fang Jiashu hadn't been right by his side, he would never have guessed that this imposing, astute leader who knows how to put people to good use doesn't like eating or sleep much in private, and even has a few peculiar hobbies...
All in all, the endless murders and suffocating parade of human lives in this part of North Jingnan keep every one of them moving forward.
Li Mengyuan sums it up simply:
