Dreams of Liangyuan

The domineering empress of her past life vs. the noble court official she imprisoned until his death

The gloomy, sickly princess of this life, "one bar of battery but a long life," vs. the disillusioned ghost boy who died a hundred years ago:

One winter day, the deposed princess moves to a desolate, secluded garden. Standing by the water, she curses the people who bullied her, wishing them to go to hell.

A ghost boy rises from the water and gazes at her tear-streaked, slightly frightened face. "You're still so cruel to people you don't like."

From then on, a girl and a ghost live together in Liang Garden.

They make a deal: he will help her regain her former glory, and she will help him recover the soul fragments he lost and move on to reincarnation.

He stays with her in the garden throughout the spring and summer.

In autumn, the princess finally moves out of Liang Garden and rekindles an old romance, preparing to marry.

On a chilly autumn night, she returns to Liang Garden drenched in rain, searching everywhere for the wild ghost trapped there.

"If I don't want to regain my former glory, can you stay in Liang Garden and not go to reincarnate?"

The rain does not fall on the lonely ghost boy. He turns to look at her, his gaze deep and quiet, as if rain is falling in his eyes too.

In truth, he has already found the last soul fragment he needs to reincarnate: it is inside her.

In truth, last night he suddenly dreamed of his youth in a past life. The empress had imprisoned him in Liang Garden and told him:

"Liang Yuanqiu, both thunder and rain are gifts from your sovereign."

Content warnings:

(1) The romance takes center stage. The past-life and present-life plotlines are interwoven. It has a bit of a groveling arc, a bit of mutual healing, and is pure romance. In short, it's a bit of everything.

(2) The leads are flawed in both their past and present lives, as are all the characters in the story.

(3) Six chapters a week, with one day off.

Theme: As Confucius said by the river, "All that passes is like this, flowing away without cease."
