The Mistress at the Door Calls the Winds and Commands the Rain

[Practice project] Quietly building up a backlog.

[Main story blurb:]

A Zi was once a spirit artifact immortal under Emperor Ziwei. She could glimpse people's fortunes and misfortunes, summon wind and rain, and command thunder and lightning.

One day, she descended to the mortal realm. Enamored with worldly life, she was taken hostage by a demonic Daoist. To escape, she was forced to cast spells without authorization, and was condemned as a sinful immortal and banished to the mortal world.

When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to the Great Zhen Dynasty, fallen from the Ninth Heaven into the mire. Just as she was at the end of her rope, she was fortunate enough to find a good man she could rely on.

But upon getting to know him, she glimpsed his future: a flourishing official career, yet one calamity after another.

If she wanted to live out this life under his protection, return to the immortal ranks, and make it to a ripe old age, then...

Nan Zitang decided to give him a helping hand!

Zuo Yu was a notorious, impoverished scholar from a once-prominent family. He and his mother struggled to get by during a severe drought, barely making ends meet.

Lately, something had left him at a loss. The young beggar boy he'd fed by chance had turned into a beautiful woman and come to his door, demanding he take responsibility.

In front of everyone, she kept calling him Yu Lang, making him blush and fluster.

At first, Zuo Yu thought he'd simply gained a younger sister. But after one rival in love after another showed up, he clung to her day after day, demanding reassurance...

-

Later, everyone in the neighborhood said the woman in Zuo Yu's household brought her husband good fortune.

Zuo Yu had no way into officialdom, then an appointment fell from the sky.

Zuo Yu was shoved by his superior into the role of a sacrificial pawn, and the pawn got promoted by one rank.

Zuo Yu was sent by his rivals to take someone else's place as a scapegoat, and the scapegoat rose three ranks in a single leap.

Nan Zitang: "I'll fight the haters to the bitter end. No one's going to keep me from living to a ripe old age and returning to the ranks of the immortals...!"

Zuo Yu: "A Zi, when can we get married?"

Nan Zitang: "! A title is just an earthly possession..."

Single-couple romance. Happy ending.
