[Ensemble Cast] [Lighthearted Comedy] [Episodic] [Demon Hunting]
A greedy, cowardly con artist vs. a hot-blooded, reckless young woman
/
Three hundred years ago, humans and demons fought a brutal war until neither side had any choice but to sit down and sign the "Hundred-Year Pact." They divided the land and agreed not to invade each other.
Now, nearly three hundred years have passed. The pact is about to become a scrap of paper, the human world is in turmoil, and the demon realm is stirring.
At this critical moment, two not-quite-reliable demon hunters cross paths.
One is Mu Chuxing, who claims to be the last heir of the Mu family's demon-hunting lineage. He's quite skilled, but money is all he thinks about.
He negotiates the price before accepting a job, and his first thought whenever trouble arises is, "Is this job even worth it?" If he can avoid lifting a finger, he will. He seems utterly unreliable.
The other is Ling Xiao, a self-taught fighter whose skills are hit or miss but whose courage is off the charts. She charges into injustice faster than anyone.
They first meet at a crime scene, where they nearly come to blows fighting over the job.

Mu Chuxing watches the compass needle spinning wildly, then looks at the girl opposite him. "Hey, ever heard of 'first come, first served'? This job is mine."
Ling Xiao puts away her copper coin sword and glares at him. "Whoever catches it gets it! ...Wait, is your compass broken? Why does it keep pointing at me?"
"Pah! It's a treasured family heirloom. You must have something unclean on you!"

And so, a stingy, money-loving con artist and a hot-blooded, reckless girl, later joined by Pei Rang, an elite demon-hunter with a head full of schemes; Su Shiyi, a quirky witch; and Yan Buxiu, a chatterbox young master...
This cobbled-together team keeps stumbling into one demonic calamity after another.
Paper figures come knocking in the middle of the night to claim a bride, a stage performance lures souls away, the walls of a remote mountain inn devour people, and a river god's festival hides a man-eating dragon...
As they deal with these bizarre cases, they realize that every incident seems to circle back to the pact between humans and demons, which is about to expire.
What Mu Chuxing can't figure out is why his family's compass, which always points toward demons, keeps veering off whenever he gets near that girl Ling Xiao.
He asks her, "Who are you, really?"
Ling Xiao chews on a flatbread, looking completely baffled. "A demon hunter, obviously. Your compass really needs fixing."
Mu Chuxing remains unconvinced, until the day a tide of demonic energy sweeps over the imperial capital. As he lies gravely wounded, he watches Ling Xiao turn away. In the eyes that were always bright with laughter, only an unfamiliar golden light remains.

The demon-hunting adventures of an unreliable duo.
"Next time, try acting like a professional instead of dragging me down!"
"Then why don't you charge in first? Why are you hiding behind me?!"
Mystery-solving first, romance second.
Theme: The world is not simply divided into black and white.
It's fun to keep talking, haha
The writing is impeccable and the plot is compact
Well written, even though I don't know what happened I still felt touched.
