A happy-go-lucky, silly, beautiful female lead versus a scheming, flirtatious, dark-hearted male lead.
When Chi Ling was seventeen, she awakened a good-for-nothing conquest System.
The System said: Conquer Yan Jinglan, the senior disciple of the Supreme Sword Sect. Make him fall in love with you, and you'll live.
So for five years, she diligently acted like a lovesick puppy: bringing him water, guarding the door, taking blows for him. She did everything expected of her.
Five years later, the senior brother still looked at her as if she were a stubborn rock.
Affection level: single digits.
There are only three days left on the countdown to her execution.
Chi Ling slaps the table. "Whoever wants to be a lovesick puppy can do it themselves. I'm taking a shortcut!"
She spends her entire fortune buying a Gu worm from the black market called the "Heartbreak and Love-Cutting Lovesickness Gu." On her last trip to bring him tea, she closes her eyes, gives her hand a shake, and feeds it to the lofty flower on the mountain peak.
[Affection +50! +80! +99!]
Looking at Yan Jinglan, his eyes red at the corners, pinning her against the bed and pleading hoarsely for a hug,
Chi Ling rejoices inwardly: That flea-market Gu worm was the real deal?!
From then on, the lofty, aloof Sword Master falls from his pedestal and becomes her personal accessory.
If another male cultivator so much as looks at her, Yan Jinglan clutches his chest and sways. "Junior Sister, my Gu poison is acting up. My heart hurts so much..."
Chi Ling throws her weight around, relying on the Gu.
Just as her affection level is about to max out, the System shrieks:
[Warning! The Gu worm connection has been severed. Mission failure!]
Chi Ling is terrified out of her wits.
Once Yan Jinglan comes to his senses and realizes she toyed with his feelings using Gu poison, he'll certainly cut her into a thousand pieces and destroy her soul!
She spends the night faking the evidence of a cultivation deviation that left no remains, then hurries down the mountain to become a wandering cultivator.
*
Yan Jinglan was born with a sword body and is immune to all poisons.
The moment the Gu worm entered his body in that cup of tea, his protective sword energy froze it.
But he didn't expose her.
He enjoyed her self-deluded sense of control. He even thought the Gu worm's effects weren't strong enough, so he crushed it and prepared to form the highest-ranking cultivation-world pact of "life and death together" that very night.
But just as he had written half the contract, his clever, cowardly junior sister ran away.
That night, the Supreme Sword Sect's nine-tiered life bell rang out.
The Sword Master, usually devoted to a tranquil and desire-free life, took up his sword and descended the mountain.
*
Not long after escaping, Chi Ling was caught and brought back to the Supreme Sword Sect.
The once aloof and solitary Sword Master had gone completely mad. He used chains to imprison her in the Sword Pavilion, calling it "dual cultivation to cure the poison."
As red candles flickered, Chi Ling was forced to endure the violent, domineering mingling of their spiritual energy, and was just about to resign herself to her fate, sobbing.
At that moment, the System, which had been frozen for ages, suddenly came back online in her mind:
[Ding! System mission updated.]
[Host, conquer your master, Pei Wujiu, immediately, and marry him! Time left for the current mission: twelve hours!]
