Your Highness, Don't Cry

"Your Highness is so round and rosy... the very picture of good fortune."

Those words made my heart flutter, and for three years I sent delicious treats to the Imperial Preceptor's residence.

Jing Shunian was distant with everyone, but he alone accepted my kindness.

Later, during the succession struggle, I was the only one with no prospects who could still sleep soundly.

Until one day, my third imperial brother died.

For the first time ever, Jing Shunian stepped into the Pearl Hall, bringing my favorite pear blossom pastries.

I couldn't eat them. In tears, I asked him why.

He was silent for a moment, then looked away. "Perhaps fate has played a cruel trick."

Only later did I learn that he hadn't dared look at me.
