Just after turning seventeen, Li Huanzhen moved with his adoptive father to White Rainbow Valley, a small town in the eastern United States, and enrolled at the local high school, Saint Oak Academy.
Surrounded by mountains and cut off from the outside world, White Rainbow Valley was once the hunting ground of a serial killer thirty years ago. His methods were bizarre and brutal, and he has never been caught.
A nursery rhyme has circulated around town ever since:
Halloween, the wind turns cold, Mr. Rabbit comes to find some candy.
Long ears, pale face, go with him and you won't come back. Refuse, and you'll fall in the alley.
Moonlight shines, hearts pound, rabbit ears sway softly in the breeze.
Don't look back, don't make a sound, he's standing right beside you.
As a newcomer, Li Huanzhen quickly settled into life abroad. The townspeople were simple and kind, and his teachers and classmates welcomed him warmly.
But... nobody ever told him not to accept candy from someone wearing a rabbit mask on Halloween...!
After "Mr. Rabbit" marks Li Huanzhen as his next victim,
the class's blond, muscular football quarterback says, "If he shows up, I'll punch his head clean off!"
The nerdy top student who loves researching all kinds of strange rumors says, "Don't worry, I'll make him reveal who he is."
And the delinquent who comes from an unhappy family and loves bullying classmates says, "Twenty bucks a day, and I'll be your personal bodyguard around the clock." (Later, he does it for free.)
