[Novel blurb]
Gentle, restrained, possessive top x obedient, sensitive, avoidant bottom
*
Su Yu's eyes were damaged when he was beaten and abandoned at thirteen. He thought he'd spend his whole life trapped in darkness. But at fourteen, the Su family adopted him, and he underwent a cornea transplant that changed the course of his life.
Years later, he found an old diary in the Su family home. The eyes he had been given belonged to his late older brother, whom he'd never met.
Like a thief who had wandered into a forbidden place, he'd stolen his brother's eyes. Night after night, he traced the pages of his brother's old diary, peeking into a life that had ended long ago.
Su Jin, as he appeared in the diary, was vivid and radiant. Su Yu often met him in his dreams, but the person in them was always faceless, with only a gentle voice and a familiar embrace.
It wasn't until the landlord, a man who always smiled so warmly, appeared that Su Yu realized the voice in his dreams was the same as the one in real life.
The man slowly drew closer, making Su Yu lower his guard. Then, in a secluded corner, he called him “Little Fish” in the same tender, lingering tone as in his dreams.
Su Yu instinctively stepped back. “Don't call me that. There's someone I like.”
The other man moved closer. “Who do you like? Isn't it me?”
“You're not him... He's dead.”
The man's restrained fingers brushed over his trembling eyelids. His breath fell against Su Yu's ear, and his voice dropped to an almost bewitching whisper. “But Little Fish, last night in your dream, when you clung to me and called me ‘big brother,’ you cried a lot more sweetly than you are now...”
*
Su Jin had died once. When he woke again, he was in someone else's body.
On the first day after being reborn, he had a strange, absurd dream. Someone in it clung to him and called him “big brother,” but he could never see their face.
That couldn't be right. Where would he have a younger brother?
Later, he discovered that the new tenant who had moved into his property was the child his parents had adopted years afterward. He'd only meant to look after this brother who had appeared out of nowhere, but as they grew closer, he quietly fell in love.
When the dreams and the diary intertwined, the love that had been buried for years finally came to light. Only then did Su Jin understand why Su Yu always looked at him as though he were someone else.
His long-suppressed possessiveness spiraled out of control. It turned out his greatest rival in love was himself, now dead.
[Bonus scene]
Late at night, Su Yu cried so hard in the man's arms that he could barely breathe. “I hate you.”
“You hate me?” Su Jin lowered his head and kissed his tear-damp lashes, smiling as he took his time. “But Little Fish, even your tears have to pass through my eyes first.”
Su Yu replied softly, “The eyes belong to Big Brother, and so do I.”
[Reading notes]
* A shared-sensation dream connection between both protagonists
* One-on-one romance, both virgins, slow-burn romance
* Top has the bearing of a wisteria; bottom has the bearing of a shy mimosa
* The protagonists are not blood-related and are not registered in the same household
(Originally titled Goldfish Diary; I'll change it back after the novel is complete.)
Next novel: Who Told You to Pick the Lock on My Studio?
[Calculating, wily capitalist top x proud, rebellious, aloof master painter bottom]
Sheng Yi is a gifted oil painter, rebellious and proud, who looks down on capitalists with money to burn.
He treats art as part of his very being. Every day, all he does is paint. When his creativity hits a dead end and inspiration deserts him completely, he shuts himself away in his old studio and refuses to eat or drink. Just as he's about to give his life for art, the locked iron door of his studio is pried open by Shang Yun, a financier worth tens of billions.
Light and shadow fell across the man's strikingly intimidating face. The once lifeless Sheng Yi was struck by a spark of wild inspiration in that very moment.
To outsiders, they have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. In private, Sheng Yi comes to the dismal realization that he's completely broken:
Whenever he's sitting before a canvas, tortured by artist's block, his dead artistic instincts can always be jolted awake by Shang Yun in the most subtle, most wicked way.
For the sake of art, Sheng Yi has no choice but to bow to capital. And so scenes like this are a regular occurrence in the studio late at night.
Sheng Yi awkwardly clings to him. “My inspiration's dead. Help me...”
Shang Yun leisurely loosens his tie and asks, though he already knows the answer: “What position are you planning to use to find inspiration today, Great Artist?”
The narrow bed in the studio creaks. Canvases lie in disarray, and the smell of oil paint mingles with the scent of desire in the air. Yet the instant the final stroke lands perfectly, the great painter is quicker than anyone at discarding the tool once the job is done.
Sheng Yi's face turns cold in a second as he sends him packing without mercy. “It was purely for the sake of creating art. President Shang, you can get lost now.”
Shang Yun, ruthlessly used and cast aside, isn't angry. Instead, he pins Sheng Yi in front of the easel. “Teacher Sheng, how did my body work for you? You can't just return it once you've finished painting. That's not in the contract...”
(The blurb may change before the novel opens, but the main plot will remain the same.)
[Reading notes]
* One-on-one romance, happy ending
* A sweet romance that probably won't be too long
* The author's tastes are corny and sweet. The entire plot serves the romance, so don't read too much into it as a reflection of real life.
* Descriptions of oil painting and the art industry are fictionalized; please don't scrutinize them too closely.
Theme: Learn to love and be loved.
