Pretty Darling Looking for a Husband

When Lu Shichu was seventeen, he suddenly learned that his family had arranged a childhood betrothal for him long ago.

He heard she was from Jiangnan, a child raised in a waterside town, soft as a glutinous rice cake.

Lu Shichu scoffed. “What age are we living in? Who still arranges marriages for people?”

On the day the other person arrived, Lu Shichu glanced down from the stairs and froze for a full three seconds.

The glutinous rice cake really was soft, with round eyes and fair skin, curled up small on his family's sofa. When she looked up at him, her lashes fluttered, and she timidly called, “Ge.”

When Song Chiyi was brought to the Lu family, all he had with him was an old schoolbag and a pipa.

Everyone said this country bumpkin must have had ancestors watching over him to get so lucky. Only Song Chiyi knew he had lost everything.

His grandmother was gone, the old house had been sold, and even the loquat tree by the gate hadn't lived long enough to bear fruit.

He thought they'd dislike him and send him back, but the Lu family didn't, and neither did Lu Shichu.

So Song Chiyi really did take Lu Shichu for his husband, trailing after him all day like a little tail.

When Lu Shichu studied, he did his homework beside him. When Lu Shichu played basketball, he waited on the sidelines with his coat. When Lu Shichu went to a student council meeting, he sat in the hallway until he fell asleep and Lu Shichu carried him home.

One night, there was thunder, and Song Chiyi grabbed a pillow and crawled into Lu Shichu's bed. Half asleep, he snuggled into Lu Shichu's arms and mumbled, “Hubby, I'm scared...”

Lu Yan's whole body stiffened. His voice was a little hoarse. “What did you call me?”
