Blurb (revision pending):
Xu Chiwu, a specialist in sorting through people's belongings after their death, dies unexpectedly. When he opens his eyes again, he has become a little cat with snow-white fur.
Xu Wuchi: "Meow?"
The System's cold electronic voice rings mercilessly in his mind: [Ding! Host has been bound to the Memory Recovery System! Host can maintain human form only while accepting commissions and helping clients recover their memories.]
Xu Chiwu returns to his old line of work, except that his clients are now living people instead of the dead.
A year later, the "Memory Recovery Shop" has become famous. After completing another commission, Xu Chiwu decides to use his brief time in human form to take a trip to an island.
No one knows that "Master Xu," who has helped countless people recover their memories, is also searching for memories of his own past.

On the ferry, Xu Chiwu leans against the railing and watches the sunset.
A man comes up to him and offers him a lemon drop. His eyes are full of laughter, and his voice is gentle. "You don't look very well. Are you seasick? Have a candy."
Xu Chiwu, pale-faced, looks at the handsome man before him for a moment, then hesitantly accepts the candy. "Thank you."
To his surprise, he discovers that the man beside him knows this island very well.
After confirming that Yu Yan has come to the island alone, he stares into Yu Yan's gentle eyes and, in a moment of heedless impulse, asks, "Could you be my tour guide for the next few days? I'll pay you."
Yu Yan looks at him in surprise. Seeing the regret in his eyes, he smiles and nods. "Sure. And as payment, can I get your contact information?"
Xu Chiwu feels comfortable spending time with Yu Yan. They have a lovely week on the island, and when they part, he still doesn't want their time together to end.
But his time in human form is almost up, and he has to go back to take on his next commission.

Rumor has it that a "Master Xu" lives at the end of Anchang Street and can help people recover their lost memories.
By chance, Yu Yan learns that this "Master Xu" is none other than his boyfriend, Xu Chiwu, who has been missing for two years and is currently vacationing on an island.
He puts down his work, books a ticket to the island, and successfully reunites with the beloved he hasn't seen in two years.
After their brief reunion, Yu Yan goes to great lengths to persuade the notoriously selective Xu Chiwu to accept his outrageously expensive commission. But Xu Chiwu doesn't show up as promised.
Puzzled, Yu Yan goes to the "Memory Recovery Shop," only to find a little cat with snow-white fur.
Staring at the feisty little cat, Yu Yan calls out uncertainly, "Xu Wuchi?"
The cat buries its head in the blankets and reluctantly hooks its tail around Yu Yan's wrist. "...Meow."
