A Diary of Observing Lord Geto

I was the Xia You family's universally acclaimed super housekeeper: I could do everything from cooking to gardening, and take care of children down to the smallest detail. I was a true problem-solver, a six-sided champion of the housekeeping world.

But no one knew that I was in love with the male head of the household.

Yes.

I was the kind of hopeless admirer who would cling to his side even if he could never love me back, who had made myself into an all-around, capable person just to stay in this house, and who was criticized like a rat in a gutter.

I stuck to my convictions, worked diligently, and kept my head down to survive, burying my secret thoughts deep.

Until one day, my employer smiled gently at me and said, "You're fired."

My faith shattered. I broke down pathetically, clung to my employer and cried day and night, wiping my snot and tears on his kasaya as I demanded, "Is it because I'm a monkey? Is it just because I'm a monkey?!"

After leaving my employer, I discovered that the world really was enormous. There were ambitious professionals who stayed up past three in the morning, shouting that they loved their jobs, and handsome silver-haired men who proposed to me at the drop of a hat, declaring they wanted me to take their name.

When my employer asked if I was having fun out there, I completely forgot where I came from.

I said, "Don't worry. Once you become a host at a cabaret club, I'll come see you too."

Core theme: Say what you feel, don't keep love bottled up.
