Summer Dream [Criminal Investigation]

After graduating from the police academy, Xia Jie stepped into his new workplace full of hope for the future. He had no idea that the next twenty-odd years would bring him pain, loneliness, and hardship.

The last suspect in the 717 robbery case remained at large. Xia Jie died with that regret still unresolved. The young man who had once carried his dreams ended up living a life that ran counter to his name.

The little girl he adopted years ago eventually inherited his police ID number. Three generations were drawn into the case, and Xia Mengsheng personally caught the last suspect.

As a survivor of the 717 case, she finally gave her deceased loved ones an answer.

But she still had plenty of regrets.

Every one of them was tied to Xia Jie: the verdict he never got to witness, and the love he never confessed.

One morning, Xia Mengsheng woke up in the year Xia Jie had just started his job. Looking at her father, so young again, she decided that this time she would help change the course of his life.

Xia Jie thought he was having the worst luck. On his first day at work, he failed to squeeze onto the bus, got his watch stolen, and arrived late to report for duty.

Life always gives you another slap when you're already at your most pathetic.

Just when Xia Jie thought his terrible luck would last all day, he saw Zhao Qiusong.

His new coworker was handsome. That had to count as a stroke of luck on an otherwise unlucky day, right?

Just as Xia Jie was looking forward to the future, his new coworker completely ignored him. Furious, Xia Jie went through a set of military calisthenics. How was he supposed to get through life like this?
