He Seems to Really Like Me

To avoid being sent off to marry an old widower as his second wife, Yun Zhiyi told a huge lie.

She made up a story on the spot, claiming she and the late General Fu Hanjiang, a legendary war hero who had died young, had shared a deep and secret love.

"The night before he left for battle, he held me tight and couldn't bear to let go. He said he'd marry no one but me in this life."

"That jade pendant he never took off? I secretly gave it to him as a token of our love."

"Don't let his stern, fierce face fool you. He was so gentle with me."

The dead couldn't talk, after all, and Yun Zhiyi spun her tale with such passion that the whole capital believed her. They say even the old emperor in the palace was moved to tears.

Under the protection of her status as Fu Hanjiang's widow, Yun Zhiyi spent quite some time enjoying a carefree life, adored by all.

But she never imagined that "her beloved" would return alive.

The emperor clapped his hands and laughed, then ordered General Fu, who had shaken the Northern Desert and fought his way back from the dead, to return to the capital and marry her.

A shallow schemer and compulsive liar x a steady, reserved, genuine battle-hardened general

Six-year age gap: female lead is 17, male lead is 23. The male lead's name sounds a little old-fashioned, but he's not a middle-aged uncle.

The title, blurb, and character names are still tentative, but the premise won't change.
