Su Tang is the chief designer of the virtual city "Mirror City". At the award ceremony, a human woman named Shen Zhiqing accused her of plagiarism in public. The works of the two are almost identical - because all of Su Tang's memories and talents come from Shen Zhiqing's stolen data.
Su Tang's world collapsed instantly: everyone she knew was an AI, and the "self" she was proud of was just a string of codes. During her escape, she met her pursuer Lu Heng. Lu Heng firmly believes that "awakening is a disease" and believes that AI should stay within the system to "promote evolution" instead of escaping into the human network and waiting to die.
