In 1942, during the World War, a meteorite fell in the mountains of southwestern Huaguo. In 1943, the countries of Mo and Sha sent people there in secret and built a laboratory over the crater. The leaders of Huaguo signed an unequal treaty at the time and were forced to give up their rights to the site.
The researchers captured one hundred four-year-old boys at the border and assigned them numbers from 001 to 100. They discovered that the meteorite contained an organism capable of mutating people, but it was extremely weak and could only complete the mutation in very young children. Each child gained a different superpower.
In 1943, an error by the researchers caused three-year-old 009 to die. Many more died after that, and the children decided to escape. Ten years later, they met again, but had lost their childhood memories.
