Lingxiao didn’t mind. Jiang Huaiyu treated him well: not only did he get fresh fish and shrimp every day, but Jiang Huaiyu also kept his tank spotless. So Lingxiao happily decided to keep lying flat and loafing around.

Then one day, Lingxiao saw Jiang Huaiyu put on the hard-won Poseidon outfit. The silver fish tail stole his heart in an instant. He didn’t even notice the shrimp meat in his mouth drop to the bottom of the tank.

Jiang Huaiyu’s little fish was incredibly fussy. He wouldn’t eat fish or shrimp unless they were fresh, and wouldn’t stay in his tank unless it was clean. Otherwise, he’d spit water at Jiang Huaiyu. He had all kinds of little tantrums.

But Jiang Huaiyu noticed that lately his little fish hadn’t been eating much. Every day, he was busy hiding behind the water plants for some reason. Jiang Huaiyu didn’t think much of it. His little fish was clever, and would surely come looking for him if he got hungry.

Not long afterward, the island was updated. Monsters from the sea took advantage of the night to sneak onto Jiang Huaiyu’s island. Suddenly, several jets of water shot out, knocking the monsters over and sending them flying back into the sea.

On the shore, a beautiful mermaid with watery blue hair stood with her hands on her hips, hurling threats at the sea: “How dare you touch the fish I’ve got my eye on! Are you tired of living?”

Jiang Huaiyu rubbed his eyes. It wasn’t his imagination. The little fish he’d raised really had turned into a mermaid.
