From Spy to Empress

Ji Xi was ordered to investigate evidence that Prince Zhangyue was plotting a rebellion.

Rumor had it that Prince Zhangyue was suspicious and ruthless, and that most of the beauties sent to Wu died unnatural deaths.

Who could have guessed that Prince Zhangyue would be drugged, and that an attendant would pick her from among the beauties to help him relieve the poison?

The reason was that Xiao Jie had looked at her a little longer that day.

Ji Xi: "..."

That was a suspicious look, okay?

Even after the poison was purged, Xiao Jie's suspicions of her did not lessen.

To test her, he sought her out for his bed every single day. Even she, a trained martial artist, couldn't take it, so she had to pretend to be frail and faint in bed in the middle of the night.

As soon as she found evidence that Xiao Jie was drilling troops and stockpiling grain, she escaped Wu and headed for the capital to hand it over to the empress dowager.

But the empress dowager intended to offer her to the tyrant.

The tyrant delighted in humiliating palace maids and was cruel and unjust. Ji Xi slit his throat on the spot and sent word to Wu by carrier pigeon.

The feudal lords across the land rushed to attack the wicked empress and restore the rightful ruler.

The realm fell into chaos. Xiao Jie led his army to storm the capital and ascend the throne as the new emperor. The court officials trembled and dared not speak, because the blood on the palace floor had not yet dried.

Late at night, no one in the entire Jiaofang Palace slept. Xiao Jie leaned close behind the woman's ear and said in a hoarse voice, "Is this what you called being frail?"

After she stole something and escaped, he had sent people after her for half a month and still couldn't catch her.

Ji Xi's voice was sweet and gentle. "Your Majesty is too powerful. Any ordinary woman would find it hard to endure."

Xiao Jie sneered. "You think I would still believe you?"

Even so, the corners of his mouth curled faintly. "You can choose either the title of empress or ten thousand taels of gold."

Ji Xi: "Of course I'll take the gold."

Xiao Jie frowned deeply. "You can be a little greedier. Take both."
