Shi Youyou lowered her eyes, gazing at the shoes on Yan Lingshan’s feet. Every sound around her faded away, leaving only the violent, furious thudding of her heart. Chen Fang had said, Chen Fang had said Yan Lingshan’s family was so rich that even one pair of his shoes cost thousands, or even tens of thousands! Thousands, tens of thousands! How many years would her family have to farm to earn enough to buy one pair of Yan Lingshan’s shoes?
