[Welcome to the public beta of Floating Archipelago 1639.1!]
This is a survival game for the people of Blue Star.
The moment Yan Buqi, a "regular" engineer, closed and reopened his eyes, he had gone from the luxurious king-size bed he'd spent a fortune on to a tiny, empty floating island.
Yan Buqi was unhappy. Yan Buqi protested: Give me back my bed! He'd just spent three months' salary on it!
Needless to say, his protest was futile.
Yan Buqi could only console himself: Fine. At least he'd gone from being a "Blue Star human with no house, no car, and no mortgage" to being "an island owner with a whole floating island."
And the island was legally his.
But this game could really kill you.
They called it a "game," but how was it any different from reality?
Yan Buqi's body was weak. He couldn't lift or carry anything.
He was unlucky, too. Other players could get upgrade materials, blueprints, and crafted items from the start, but all Yan Buqi got was a pile of useless junk resources.
This was a truly critical moment, one that meant life or death!
Yan Buqi cried out: I need to develop!
Then he looked around and decided to go back to his old profession.
What if a wooden grappling hook breaks?
No problem. Study it, and it can be repaired.
What if a flint fire starter breaks?
No problem. Take it apart a little, and it'll work.
What if an alchemy instrument breaks?
No problem. Optimize it, and it'll work even better.
What if a steam airship breaks?
No problem. Take it apart and rebuild it. It can even be upgraded.
What if the floating archipelago breaks?
No problem. Tear it all down... No, ahem, let's talk this through and build a better tomorrow together.
As the honorary chief engineering master of the Floating Archipelago Steam Engineering Alliance / lifetime designated reviewer of the Floating Archipelago Patent Certification Association / honorary duke of the Oldervia Empire / bearer of the Light of Milo / grandmaster of the Alchemy Association... Yan Buqi adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, which didn't even have prescription lenses.
He declared that it was all nothing to him.
["Every legend among the clouds begins with the remains of a landmass floating in the sky. The one beneath your feet is where it all begins."]
Yan Buqi's legend had begun.
