After a dream, everyone in the Sheng family unexpectedly awakened to the truth: their family was the bitter foil in a period novel about an island compound.

In the book, the Sheng family was plagued by one disaster after another. First, Sheng Bai, the family’s mainstay, died in a flood while saving a comrade during a disaster-relief mission.

Then Wen Yan, overcome with grief at the death of her husband, fell gravely ill and eventually passed away, leaving behind three young daughters.

Even more heartbreaking, the three Sheng sisters were later separated by human traffickers and never reunited for the rest of their lives.

After waking from the dream, Sheng Bai and Wen Yan quickly called a family meeting with their three daughters, hoping to find a way to change their family’s tragic fate.

But just as Sheng Bai and Wen Yan were furrowing their brows in worry, their youngest daughter, Sheng Baojia, smiled and told her parents not to worry. She had suddenly discovered that she could turn back time.

After six-year-old Sheng Baojia awakened her unlimited ability to rewind time, the Jin family, who had never gotten along with the Shens, suddenly found that their son Jin Li’s good luck seemed to have disappeared.

Jin Li had always been so lucky that he might as well have been the heavens’ favorite child. He would find money or meat just walking down the street, and thanks to him, the Jin family lived especially well.

Sheng Baojia had this to say: “What nonsense about good luck? Those things didn’t just fall from the sky. They were lost belongings from other families! If they’re lost property, they should be returned to their rightful owners, not kept as your own!”

So when Jin Li found an old hen and bragged to Sheng Baojia that he was going to have roast chicken for dinner, Sheng Baojia rewound time with a single click and found the owner of the missing hen first.

The owner’s family was immensely grateful to Sheng Baojia, since the hen was meant to provide nourishment for a pregnant woman in their household.

To thank Sheng Baojia for her honesty in returning the chicken, the pregnant woman even gave her a bag of milk candies to take home.

Sheng Baojia was the leader of the children in the compound. Generous as ever, she shared the candies with every child there, giving one to each, but skipping Jin Li and his two arrogant, overbearing older brothers.

The three Jin brothers were furious, but all they could do was watch everyone else eat their milk candies.

Later, Jin Li found a whole bag of money on the bus, containing a full thousand yuan.

Jin Li and his family spent the money extravagantly, buying whatever they wanted without a care, while the owner placed an appeal in the newspaper, saying the money was urgently needed to save a life and pay for medical treatment, and pleading with whoever had found it to return it.

When Sheng Baojia heard about it, she rewound time with a single click and got her family on the same bus as Jin Li and his family.

Just as Jin Li was about to bend down and pick up the bag of money, Sheng Baojia darted ahead and snatched it up, then shouted to the bus driver that she had found some money and wanted to give it to the police so they could find its owner.

The Jin family thought Sheng Baojia was as stupid as a pig. But when the bus reached the police station, they happened to meet the owner at the entrance, a man so terrified he was nearly scared out of his wits.

Seeing that his wife’s life-saving money had been found and returned, the old man was so moved that he nearly kowtowed to Sheng Baojia on the spot.

A reporter who had witnessed the whole incident wrote about Sheng Baojia and had the story published on the front page of the newspaper.

Overnight, Sheng Baojia became famous across the island. After seeing the newspaper, the island’s commander praised her again and again, saying that although she was very young, she was a shining example for the whole compound.

Seeing Sheng Baojia so highly praised naturally made Jin Li and his family even more jealous.

The Jin family had always seen Sheng Baojia and her two older sisters as worthless daughters, spoiled by Wen Yan and Sheng Bai.

Meanwhile, the Jin family’s three precious boys, especially Jin Li, were destined to grow up into exceptional talents who would leap to success.

Yet years later, the people in the compound discovered that the three Jin brothers had achieved nothing and had even become notorious local layabouts.

Meanwhile, each of the three Sheng sisters had excelled in her own way. They included a scientist and a diplomat who brought honor to their country, and a fighter pilot who soared through the clouds to defend their homeland’s skies!
