Zhou Tang merely fed a stray cat, and the little thing sent her tumbling straight back to ancient times.
Pleased with her decent knowledge of history, she thought she'd struck it lucky.
But she soon realized this strange place wasn't any dynasty she knew.
And worse, it was home to monsters, the man-eating kind from legends.
The fluffy, sweetly mewing cat she'd picked up on a whim, with its wide-eyed innocence, turned out to be a genuine monster.
Zhou Tang looked down at the cat, which was elegantly licking its paw.
The cat looked up and gave an innocent, "Meow."
All right. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. If it's a monster, it's a monster. At least she was the one who picked it up.
But soon, a serious problem presented itself:
She had to eat, and so did the cat.
Monsters... probably ate more than ordinary cats, right?
Zhou Tang felt her purse growing lighter by the day, then glanced at the increasingly ravenous cat and fell into thought.
She decided to make a big play.
The cat could enter people's dreams, couldn't it?
Then she'd open a teahouse in ancient times, sell some healthful tea, and give her customers a good dream while she was at it.
A sleepless general came in for a pot of tea and slept soundly.
A young lady troubled by a painful secret stopped by and dreamed of someone she had lost, then wept with relief.
A frustrated scholar dozed at the table and dreamed that an immortal showed him the way.
Somehow, the teahouse became an overnight sensation.
Counting her money, Zhou Tang finally broke into a smile.
Counting cash, petting the cat, and watching people come and go in the sunshine: wasn't this the life she'd always wanted?
Then one night,
Zhou Tang reached out as usual to scoop up her cat, but her fingertips touched something other than soft, warm fur.
She froze.
Beneath the moonlight, a handsome young man sat on her bed, his clothes loosely draped over him. His smile was so beautiful it made her heart skip a beat.
"Y-You're not a monster?! What happened to the fluffy, adorable monster you promised me?"
The young man tilted his head and leaned closer, his breath brushing her ear.
"Tangtang, are you mistaken about monsters, or about me?"
