When Pangu separated Heaven and Earth, the turbid qi sank and the pure qi rose. But Heaven and Earth were not in balance, and demons and gods came into being between them.
Back then, the sky was low and golden yellow. Heaven and Earth created the gods, and Nuwa created humanity.
The gods each had their duties. Where there was pure qi, there was also turbid qi; where there were gods, there were demons. Humans, gods, and demons all coexisted in this world.
Human life was ruled by the seven emotions and six desires: greed, anger, delusion, arrogance, and doubt.
It was then that the first person to declare war on the gods was born.
The Flame Emperor and Yellow Emperor fought a civil war. Gonggong rammed Mount Buzhou in anger, causing the waters of the Celestial River to pour down. Nuwa repaired the sky, cut off the legs of a giant turtle, and used them to prop up the four pillars of Heaven.
Under the rule of the Three Sovereigns, the Yellow Emperor's tribe grew increasingly powerful. After the Battle of Banquan, the Flame Emperor was defeated, and Chiyou, in fear, sought a greater power: the power of the gods.
He did not want to ask the gods for help. He wanted power equal to theirs. He could not accept humanity remaining beneath the gods.
He enslaved demons, took the gods' bones, and forged the Severance of Heaven and Earth, a weapon capable of slaying gods.
His defeat at the Battle of Zhuolu only strengthened his resolve to kill the gods.
This enraged the Heavenly Dao, which recalled every god sent to guide humanity. From then on, the path to immortality was severed, and the demon realm was established.
