Content warnings:
The early part leans more toward plot than romance (blame me for making the worldbuilding too big).
A clichéd past-life-and-present-life plot.
Since we're not going for angsty romance, let's let our little couple be happy together, with a touch of distance and uncertainty. We'll leave the rest aside! (Except for the plot.)
A shameless, sly, flirtatious snake demon gong ✖ a guoshi shou who understands everything but pretends not to.
The fun is in making the gong question his whole life: he wants to get as close as possible, but is afraid he'll scare the shou off if he makes one wrong move. The shou knows perfectly well what's going on and is just watching to see what other tricks the other guy will try (that's how someone in the more powerful position acts).
Basically, the gong remembers his past life, while the shou dies again and again. Then the gong discovers that the shou is cursed. What we get is the gong showing off like a peacock, while the shou keeps falling in love with him over and over. Yep.
The gong first appears in Chapter 4.
Theme: To love someone is to wish them life.
