Wei Zhan had no interest in women. He had neither a bedchamber attendant nor any concubines. In his mind, marrying a noblewoman in exchange for political stability had no downside.

At some point, he realized he was becoming more and more attached to her. He craved her, and even entertained the absurd idea of having her bear his child.

But this woman had lied to him and deceived him, and had even tried to run away from his control time and again.

Still, he didn't hold it against her. He cherished her, and even disregarded her low status to make her his legal wife. But all he got in return was her cold, merciless reply: "I hate you."
