I Work as a Bandit-Catcher in the Capital Prefecture

Su Xi was originally a bounty hunter. After she hunted down every bandit in Guangyang County, allowing the local people to live in peace, she was made an exception and appointed as a patrol officer tasked with catching criminals.

While away on a work trip, she unexpectedly solved three major mysterious cases in the capital:

The Dripping Guanyin;

The Matchmaker for Star-Crossed Lovers;

The Hundred Blossoms Kill...

She was then promoted from a county-level criminal-catcher to a criminal-catcher in the capital's prefectural government.

The many factions within the palace jostled for power, and the court was full of intrigue... None of it had much to do with Su Xi.

But being a worker meant earning a meager salary while those above pulled strings and those below ran themselves ragged. Naturally, there was also the workplace nemesis, always digging a pit for you to fall into.

Su Xi: Jade-Faced Asura, you're utterly inhuman. I hope the gods and Buddhas forsake you!

Yuchi Qing: Very kind of you. Don't sell yourself short, you Salt-Faced Yaksha.

After the two started working together:

Su Xi stood with her sword in hand, gazing into the wind.

Yuchi Qing, won over by her abilities: Hmph, what an invincible beauty, her robes fluttering in the breeze.

Once, after finishing an assignment, Su Xi returned to the capital to report to her nemesis.

She stepped into his room, and Yuchi Qing, tipsy from the Fragrant Intoxication, immediately wrapped his arms around her legs and refused to let go.

His dark hair spilled down as he rested his head on his arm and looked up at her. "Since you've entered my dream, Miss Su, please don't leave me here. I beg you... take pity on a man lovesick for you."

It was the first time Su Xi had seen this man looking so forlorn and tearful. The word "Get lost" stayed stubbornly on the tip of her tongue.
