The following year, the institute announced that it would destroy a batch of defective units, including its very first creation, the prototype for all humanoid robot assistants: S-001.
Robots have no self-awareness. Their first principle is to obey human orders, even when ordered to accept their own destruction.
But S-001 was defective.
Its defects were that it lacked both the first principle and any basic decency.
So S-001 blew up the transport aircraft and escaped while being taken away for destruction.
