Chen Ran, an exam-focused small-town student, gets into Jing University with one of the top ten scores on the college entrance exam. Just before graduation, a family crisis leaves him desperately needing money.
While working part-time at a nightclub, he gets into a fight with someone. He is about to bow and apologize to defuse the situation when he catches sight of Zhou Qi, surrounded by a crowd.
Chen Ran throws a punch and makes the fight worse, hoping to get Zhou Qi's attention.
Zhou Qi watches coldly, seemingly uninterested, and turns to leave. In his panic, Chen Ran rushes after him, trips, and falls. He clings to the hem of Zhou Qi's clothes, his voice trembling. "Mr. Zhou, please give me a way to survive."

The agreed time hadn't come yet, and Zhou Qi hadn't given any orders, so Chen Ran waited quietly beside him.
A focused man always has a certain charm, especially when Zhou Qi is tall and straight-backed, with regular features and an imposing bearing.
Chen Ran watches him and doesn't even feel bored.
A breeze blows a page of documents off the desk, and Chen Ran instinctively reaches to pick it up.
Without even looking up, the man says, "Did I tell you to move?"
Chen Ran: "?" Am I not even allowed to move?
"Don't move unless I give you an order. Do I have to teach you the rules one by one?"

One day, Zhou Qi is curled up in Chen Ran's hotel room when a friend from the film crew drops by.
Chen Ran: "Mr. Zhou, should you hide?"
Zhou Qi frowns slightly. "Am I someone who can't be seen?"
Chen Ran lowers his eyes to himself, covered in toys that jingle as they hang from his body. "Mr. Zhou, I think I'm the one who shouldn't be seen."
Zhou Qi's eyes are pitch-black, as if he has an idea.
"Chen Ran, I really want to take you out like this and show you off in front of everyone."
"Too bad none of them deserve to see you."
"No one deserves to see you except me."
