Every day, the faculty and students watch us scowl at each other as we go from trading insults to... awkwardly exchanging suppressants and clumsily releasing soothing pheromones when the other is in heat. One late night, he corners me against the dorm wall, looking furious and hurt. “Can you stop using that damn scent to tease me and then running away?”

Shen Yu is almost too perfect at first: cold, strong, restrained, and with hardly any obvious flaws. He isn't down-to-earth, isn't a good-for-nothing, and doesn't wallow in self-pity.

Li Beizhou is foul-mouthed at first and says hurtful things. He isn't the gentle, gentlemanly Alpha type.

Neither of them is ruled by love. The romance develops slowly, and for much of the first half they're fighting, training, and competing with each other. They don't cling to each other the moment they meet.

The pace is slow at first. Most of the first volume is campus life, training, arguments, and rivalry. The grand spectacles come in the middle and later parts.

Li Beizhou is foul-mouthed at first, while Shen Yu is aloof. Neither is a perfect character. There is forced cohabitation and bonding, which becomes consensual later. Happy ending.
