The onlookers, who loved a good show: "Fight! Whoever wins gets to be senior, and whoever loses gets to be junior!"

Gu Zi'an and Xiao Chengping were of the same mind. They drew their swords and fought for three days and three nights, neither able to beat the other. At last, they collapsed from exhaustion and smiled at one another. In each other's eyes, they saw wariness and the belated delight of finding a worthy rival.

"Gu Zi'an of Huaining."

"Xiao Chengping of Shangyun."

They became acquainted through their fights. Their clashes left them both battered, with no clear victor, but together they were unstoppable, striding across Zhongzhou.

One day, Venerable Qilin said, "You two should go down the mountain."

They replied in unison, "All right."

Before parting, both racked their brains and talked themselves hoarse trying to lure the other back home.

Gu Zi'an said, "Xiao Chengping, I think highly of you. Come to Huaining. I'll make sure you prosper."

Xiao Chengping said, "Gu Zi'an, come back to Shangyun with me. Power, wealth, beautiful people: if you can imagine it, you can have it."

Gu Zi'an scoffed. "Aren't you getting ahead of yourself? Who do you think you are, Xiao Yu, the young sect leader of the Xiao clan of Shangyun?"

Xiao Chengping nodded solemnly. "Yes. Come with me. Huaining is remote and out of the way, rundown and cramped. There's no future there."

Gu Zi'an, young sect leader of the Gu clan of Huaining, clenched his fists. "Who are you calling rundown and cramped?"

Xiao Chengping's breath caught for an instant. Then two mighty currents of spiritual energy, thick with murderous intent, collided and exploded between heaven and earth!

You stab me in the heart, I'll chop off your head.

You touch my butt, I'll rip off your balls.

Still, neither won. They each went home to nurse their wounds, vowing to kill the other next time.

Over the long struggle for supremacy in the cultivation world, the Gu clan of Huaining and the Xiao clan of Shangyun became embroiled in generations of hatred, with a blood feud that could never be forgiven.

Gu Zi'an and Xiao Chengping were openly at odds. Everyone knew they couldn't stand each other.

Gu Zi'an cultivated the Ruthless Sword Dao. He was hard-hearted, taciturn, and drew his sword with deadly speed and precision!

Whenever the two appeared together, swords were sure to be drawn. Behind each other's backs, they also went out of their way to sabotage one another.

Neither could stand the other, and neither could get rid of the other.

Xiao Chengping had wanted to destroy Gu Zi'an's Ruthless Dao for a long time.

Then inspiration struck, and he came up with a brilliant plan: seduce Gu Zi'an, make him fall in love, and his Ruthless Dao would collapse on its own.
