The Villain Refuses to Play the Lone Beauty

Obsessively devoted Enigma top × says one thing, means another Alpha bottom

The System tells Yin Yi that he's the villainous Enigma in a novel, destined to be sent to prison by Alpha CEO Ji Zhiheng for framing the woman he loves.

According to the new plot written for his solo-life story, he can avoid a bad ending by ending his engagement to Ji Zhiheng and focusing on his career.

Yin Yi finds it laughable.

He's waited twenty years for the chance to get engaged to his childhood friend, whom he's secretly loved for years. How could a few lines of fictional setup and plot make him give up everything he's worked for?

If the System can write a new script, he'll just use the System in turn and follow a “new plot” of his own.

Yin Yi pretends to cooperate with the System and tricks it into giving him the solo-life plot. Then he uses the future events described in the script to create opportunities to get close to Ji Zhiheng.

But just when Yin Yi thinks everything is under control, the plot's forced power douses him with cold water.

As soon as he takes the initiative to approach Ji Zhiheng, he gets pulled back into the original plotline and becomes the villain who harms others by every means available.

Even if he does nothing, the plot automatically fixes its own logical loopholes and puts him back in the role of “culprit.”

Yin Yi sneers.

If the plot has the power to force his hand, then he'll figure out its rules and turn them into a “new mechanism” of his own.

But as the plot unfolds, Yin Yi gradually realizes that Ji Zhiheng has broken the promise he made as a child and kept many things from him.

He also slowly understands that years apart have made them both familiar and strange to each other.

What Yin Yi doesn't know is that the person who has been protecting him in silence all along has never changed since they were children.

“Zhiheng, the agreement says we're business partners in public. What are we in private?” Ignoring the System's warnings, Yin Yi corners the dignified Alpha by the desk.

“Mr. Yin,” Ji Zhiheng says with his usual gentle smile, unruffled. “You still have a chance to leave before I get angry.”

Yin Yi ignores him and moves closer.

Ji Zhiheng frowns and looks up into Yin Yi's burning eyes. He instinctively averts his gaze and puts a hand on Yin Yi's shoulder.

Yin Yi waits for Ji Zhiheng to push him away. But several minutes pass, and Ji Zhiheng remains in the same position, showing no sign of pushing him away.

Yin Yi: “So that's a yes?”

Ji Zhiheng: “Shut up.”
