Chen Feng first met Xue Jing on the rooftop of their new school.

Xue Jing was leaning against the railing, surrounded by three Alphas, a folding knife clenched in her hand. The scent of bamboo-leaf agarwood seeped from the edges of her failing suppressor patch, like a brazier of charcoal covered in ash: quiet on the surface, with glowing red heat beneath.

Chen Feng helped her. Then Xue Jing hooked an arm around her neck and bit into her gland.

"Your pheromones are so pungent."

That was the first day they met.

Chen Feng was an S-rank Alpha, a graduate of chaotic Sixth High. She had been sent to juvenile detention, had no family, and lived in an urban village, scraping by on odd jobs and a full scholarship. Her pheromones were a weapon, her fists her language. Being alone was the very foundation of her existence. A vicious, violent streak ran through her bones. She had been in more fights than she had spoken words, and suffered more setbacks than she had received kindness.

Xue Jing was an S-rank Omega, the heiress to Xue Pharmaceuticals, but her pheromones would go berserk without warning. The doctor said she had to find a compatible Alpha and form a mutual mark, biting back and drawing stability from the other person's pheromones.

She was an Omega among ten thousand who needed to mark an Alpha in reverse.

No Alpha was willing to let an Omega bite their gland.

Chen Feng was willing. It had never even occurred to her to refuse. When Xue Jing bit her, she was in so much pain that her whole body went limp, but she didn't push her away. Later, when Xue Jing said, "Bite me," she bit her back with red-rimmed eyes, pressing all her anger and shame into the tips of her teeth.

But she didn't know that Xue Jing had read her entire file, or that every approach had been planned to seem perfectly natural.

Xue Jing thought that binding her with her own hands would be very interesting. She would raise her herself.

One made plans at every turn, while the other gave herself willingly. Viciousness became obedience, hardness became tenderness. She wasn't tamed; she gave herself willingly.

Later, Xue Jing was the person who treated her best, so Chen Feng listened to everything she said.
