The Widow [Period]

Feng Qingmiao, an independent career woman from the 21st century, transmigrates to the 1990s. Her life is going well, but now that she's reached marriageable age, the pressure is coming from all sides. Even her chances of promotion depend on whether she starts a family and settles down. After careful consideration, she becomes a military wife. She and her husband, Zhao Yu, spend more time apart than together, but their relationship is steady and her career is thriving.

Then, after another mission leaves him out of contact for days, her husband returns as a corpse, along with his medals.

Her husband's comrade, Duan Rong, helps arrange the funeral. Feng Qingmiao notices that he sometimes seems lost in a daze.

Feng Qingmiao knows Duan Rong is the captain her late husband repeatedly said had saved his life and was the person he trusted most. After the funeral, Duan Rong tells her that this time, Zhao Yu saved him by giving his own life in exchange.

Duan Rong's job is dangerous. He spends his days dealing with criminals such as drug traffickers and spies. On the mountain behind the base is a plot of gravestones, and now there's a cenotaph there for his partner.

After his comrade Zhao Yu's death, Zhao's parents still have a child to care for, but his wife is left all alone.

Duan Rong decides he has one more lifelong duty: he should take Zhao Yu's place and look after Feng Qingmiao.

But when PTSD leaves him like a stray dog, wandering without knowing how to get there until he ends up outside Feng Qingmiao's home, it's she who takes care of him.
