After a car accident, she closed her eyes on Blue Star. When she opened them again, she had become a newborn in another world.
To her, it is a fascinating place where all things have spirits, and humans rely on taming spirits to live.
Her uncle's mountain is covered in fruit trees. If anyone from a family without spirit contracts climbs it, the branches can whip them around like tops. The great horse her father raises is bigger than a house. It needs no handler and can carry a mountain's worth of baggage out and back all on its own. The butterflies her mother feeds are as big as washbasins. One flap of their wings sends shimmering scales flying into people's faces.
It might be a fascinating world, if only it weren't a feudal society.
