A proud, pampered, haughty prince × a disheveled, lecherous village woman
In a single night, his country fell, and the most arrogant and beloved Seventh Prince of a male-dominated kingdom became the lowliest of gifts. Shao Chenfeng was bound hand and foot and escorted all the way to a remote village in a female-dominated kingdom, where he was handed over to a village woman. He still held on to a faint hope: no matter how wretched his circumstances, surely he could preserve some shred of dignity.
Then he met his new master. The door opened to reveal a recently divorced countrywoman crouched outside, picking her teeth. She was short, plain-looking, and gazing at him as if he were some newly acquired household item.
“No...!!!” The prince let out the most anguished wail of his life.
The door slammed shut behind him, and with it, his entire world collapsed.
“What are you crying for? Don’t you men all dream of marrying a good woman?”
He swore he’d starve himself to death to make a stand. She munched on her steamed bun and watched the show. He lectured her on ethics and propriety. She hefted her hoe and scoffed. “What makes someone a woman? What makes someone a man? We women are born with both yin and yang, whole and complete. As for you men...”
She leaned in and patted his deathly pale cheek. “You were born incomplete, so you’d better accept your fate.”
Shao Chenfeng: “...!!!” (His entire worldview shattered.)
Please note: The female lead has a scheming, troublemaking ex-husband. Three is always a crowd.
Bonus scene
Her ex stumbled into the courtyard, his collar hanging open and his breath faint. “A He, she hit me...” He fell into her arms as if by accident, tilting his face up at just the right angle, his tears falling like pearls. “Will you take me in for one night? Just one night.”
Early the next morning, Shao Chenfeng began another hunger strike.
“I won’t eat! I’d rather die!”
He shoved the bowl of porridge away with a clatter, his eyes as red as a rabbit’s. “I’d rather die right here, or jump off the mountain, than ever eat another grain of your rice!”
